Meet the Executive Director

Dr. Dustin Burgess

Dr. Dustin Burgess is the Music Director and Conductor of the Roman Festival Brass Band. An accomplished educator, conductor, and trumpet player, he is a tenured Professor of Music Education and Director of the Music Education program at Shorter University.

Dr. Burgess brings extensive performance and conducting experience to the band. He served with the 82nd Airborne Division Band and Eighth United States Army Band, performing throughout the United States, South Korea, England, and France. His performance experience includes concert bands, brass bands, jazz ensembles, orchestras, brass quintets, and musical theatre. He currently performs with the Clocktower Jazz Ensemble and Northwest Georgia Winds.

A frequent guest conductor and clinician, Dr. Burgess has taught and conducted musicians from elementary school through the university level. He holds degrees in Music Education from Appalachian State University and VanderCook College of Music and a Ph.D. in Music Education with an emphasis in Wind Conducting from the University of Florida.
